Speaking in Meru on Monday, Ruto praised Kindiki’s deep understanding of how government functions and his ability to effectively support national development programs, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Ruto commended Kindiki’s collaborative approach, saying he not only supports the presidency but also works closely with Cabinet Secretaries to ensure the smooth delivery of government services.

“I’m grateful for Kithure Kindiki. Now I have a deputy who understands roads, electricity, the SHA program, and who is committed to the country’s progress. He is visible, active, and working hard across the country,” Ruto said.

The President added that Kindiki is a principled and level-headed leader who recognizes that the Deputy President’s role is national—not limited to one region or ethnic group.

“He’s not driven by anger, division, or tribalism. He knows the Deputy President doesn’t represent just Meru, but the entire Republic of Kenya,” Ruto said.

Kindiki assumed the Deputy President position in December 2024, following the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua. Before that, he served as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, a key role in the government.

During Kindiki’s swearing-in, Ruto mentioned that he had often felt like a lone voice within the presidency and wanted a partner who could help amplify the government’s work.

He described Kindiki as highly intelligent and capable of strengthening areas the administration had previously fallen short in.

“I need your intellect to support me and the Cabinet in communicating our projects and initiatives. I’ve almost been a solitary voice in explaining our progress, especially from the presidency,” Ruto said.
