The Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rains starting Saturday and lasting until 6 pm on April 18, 2024.
Expect intense rainfall in various regions including the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, Nairobi area, Southeastern Lowlands, Coast, and the northern sector. Rainfall exceeding 40mm in 24 hours is expected in these areas on April 14, 2024, intensifying to over 50mm in 24 hours along the Coast from April 15 to 18, 2024.

Director of Meteorological Services, David Gikungu, warns of potential floods, flash floods, and reduced visibility, especially in specific counties. The public is cautioned against driving or walking in moving water, seeking shelter under trees or near grilled windows, and being mindful of strong winds which may cause structural damage and affect marine activities.
