A fatal road accident early Saturday morning at Tegero, along the Narok-Bomet road, has resulted in one death and three injuries, police have reported.
The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. when a Toyota saloon car and a bus, carrying four passengers, collided. A female passenger in the Toyota died instantly. The driver and two other passengers from the car sustained minor injuries and were transported to Narok County Referral Hospital for treatment.
Police reports indicate that the saloon car, which was headed toward Narok with four people onboard, lost control and crashed into the bus, which was traveling in the opposite direction toward Bomet. None of the 34 passengers on the bus were injured.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary. Both vehicles were towed to Ololulunga Police Station for inspection as investigations continue.
This crash occurred just hours after a similar incident in Mombasa, where a woman was killed and another person severely injured when struck by a lorry at the Likoni Crossing Channel on Friday night. The lorry, carrying building blocks, lost control while descending the mainland ramp toward the ferry at around 7:15 p.m., hitting a female pedestrian and causing fatal injuries. A male pedestrian sustained severe fractures and was taken to Likoni Sub-County Hospital. The lorry was impounded, and investigations are ongoing.
