National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Committee Chair Nelson Koech called it a worrying escalation, stressing the need to safeguard the Head of State. He added that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had warned Ruto against visiting Mt. Kenya.

Senator Richard Onyonka denounced the act unequivocally, stating, “There is no justification at all.”

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni viewed the incident as a reflection of growing public frustration, noting, “A shoe tells a story. We must ask ourselves how we’ve contributed to that anger.”

Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu raised security concerns but urged Ruto to avoid populist rallies and focus more on governance. “He should step back from chanting on car rooftops and concentrate on policy delivery.”

Strategic Communications Advisor Fred Okang’o echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of respecting the presidency even amid political disagreements.
