The incident happened mid-speech, with a viral video showing a dusty shoe hitting the president’s left hand before dropping. A security officer promptly moved to shield him.

Although briefly interrupted, Ruto regained composure and continued speaking to the crowd.

There has been no official response from State House, the Interior Ministry, or police authorities, but the event is being treated as a serious breach of presidential security.

The incident follows heightened fears over the safety of leaders, coming just days after Kasipul MP Charles Ongondo Were was shot dead in Nairobi. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with his murder.
