According to police headquarters, the incident is being treated as a significant security lapse, and investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the act.

The incident took place on Sunday while the President was addressing residents in Kehancha town. A widely shared video clip shows a dusty shoe flying through the air and hitting the President’s left hand.

Despite the disruption, President Ruto remained composed and continued with his speech as a security officer swiftly intervened.

While State House has not released an official comment, security sources have confirmed that the suspects are currently being questioned.

This event has heightened ongoing concerns about the security of public officials. It follows the recent killing of Kasipul MP Charles Ongondo Were in Nairobi, which police have labeled an assassination. Four individuals have been detained in connection with that case.
