Chrispine Erambo, a midfielder for Tusker FC, has disclosed the encouraging words imparted to him by coach Engin Firat following his maiden call-up to the Harambee Stars.
Erambo received the summons during the recent FIFA international break and participated in the Four-Nations tournament. Despite being just 19 years old, he featured in matches against Malawi and Zimbabwe, contributing to Kenya’s triumph in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Describing Firat as an affable coach who instills confidence, Erambo highlighted a pivotal message: that his call-up was based on merit, not favoritism. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized Firat’s belief in his potential to excel as a player.
Reflecting on his national team debut, Erambo, while substituted in the second game, aspires to secure a regular spot in future Harambee Stars lineups through dedicated effort.
Recounting his integration into the national squad, Erambo cited Teddy Akumu’s welcoming encouragement upon arrival at the camp. He also appreciated the supportive camaraderie from fellow players, especially upon his selection for the starting lineup.
Erambo’s consistent performance for Tusker FC under coach Robert Matano paved the way for his debut call-up. He acknowledges that playing at the top flight level enhances his prospects for national team selection, emphasizing the importance of continued hard work to solidify his place in the squad.
The midfielder’s aspirations remain high as he seeks to further improve his game and increase his chances of representing Kenya in upcoming assignments.
