The Lower Eastern Times Opening The Third Eye
Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in parts of four counties on Friday, September 4, 2026, as the utility company undertakes routine network maintenance.
According to a notice issued on Thursday evening, the affected areas are located in Nandi, Kisumu, Nyeri and Nakuru counties. Some customers in the listed locations will experience power outages lasting several hours.
Nandi County
In Nandi, the interruption will affect Kimwani and neighbouring areas from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
Customers in Kimwani, Mberere and surrounding areas have been advised to make the necessary preparations ahead of the scheduled maintenance.
Kisumu County
In Kisumu, customers in Chemelil and nearby areas will experience an outage from 9 am to 5 pm.
The affected locations include Chemelil Market, Gotwinyithindo Primary School, Powerteng, Onyalo Biro and Ayiecho Olweny Secondary School.
Other areas listed include Ng’eny Primary School, Chinese Quarry and neighbouring customers within the maintenance zone.
Nyeri County
Kenya Power has listed two separate sections of Nyeri County for planned interruptions.
Customers around Kangubiri Girls and Ihigaini will be without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm. The affected areas include Sagana Falls Station, Ihigaini, Gakoe Coffee Factory, Kaigonde, Kangubiri Girls, Mr Kanyi, Dansun and Kiunge.
The second interruption will affect Ihururu Market and Mwenji, also between 9 am and 5 pm.
Locations listed include Mwenji, Mwenji Market, Ihururu Village, Muhoya Drive, Kabendera, Nyamakuyu TBC, Nyamakuyu PCEA and Ihururu Town, as well as surrounding customers.
Nakuru County
In Nakuru, the scheduled outage will affect Mai Mahiu and surrounding areas from 8 am to 5 pm.
Among the affected customers are those around River Springs Hotel, Mayers, Namja, China Wu-Yi, Gold Stone Quarry, Manyata Quarry and Yellow Stones Quarry.
Other areas include Kingston Quarry, Ewaso Kedong Market, Najire Girls and Earth Station, together with neighbouring customers.
Kenya Power said the interruptions are necessary to facilitate network maintenance and apologised for any inconvenience caused during the exercise.
The company advised customers who want advance information on planned outages to consult its latest maintenance schedule.
Customers can also use Kenya Power’s digital customer service assistant, Nuru, for additional information and support.
The utility reiterated that the listed areas will be affected by planned maintenance on September 4 and encouraged customers to plan accordingly.
