UDA nominates Kimanzi Mwendwa for Migwani Ward by-election

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has issued a certificate of nomination to Kimanzi Mwendwa as its candidate for the upcoming Migwani Ward by-election in Mwingi West Constituency, Kitui County.

The by-election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, 2026, with the ruling party expressing confidence in its candidate as it prepares to contest the seat.

UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan said the party had activated its grassroots structures to support its campaign and strengthen its presence across electoral areas.

“We have activated our grassroots infrastructure to win the seat, reinforcing UDA’s nationwide presence and ability to contest and secure victories across all electoral areas,” the Secretary General said.

In his acceptance speech, Mwendwa thanked the people of Migwani Ward for the confidence they had placed in him and pledged to serve them with dedication if elected.

Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna, who accompanied the candidate during the nomination event, commended UDA for what he described as a transparent and fair nomination process.

Hassan reiterated that Mwendwa’s candidacy was aligned with the party’s development agenda under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which UDA says is focused on inclusive development.

Several party officials attended the event, including Director of Finance and Administration Joseph Mulili, Director of Communication Nathaniel Mong’are, Dr. Moses Banda, Esther Kalunda Ndile and Martha Mati, alongside other party officials and supporters.

The Migwani Ward by-election is expected to draw political attention to Mwingi West as parties and candidates prepare to compete for the elective seat.
