The summit will focus on exploring collaborative opportunities to address critical issues impacting the global economy.
The event will be organized by the World Chambers Federation (WCF) of the International Chamber of Commerce and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), and is scheduled to run from April 9 to 11, 2025.
The theme for the summit is “Africa’s Global Future: Integrated, Innovative, and Sustainable.”
The summit aims to foster regional integration, promote sustainable business practices, and unlock investment opportunities across Africa. Key topics will include boosting trade and investment, advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and strengthening global partnerships.
Expected attendees include participants from over 70 countries, including 500 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), more than 300 entrepreneurs, African Heads of State, government officials, and international investors.
The summit seeks to encourage inclusive and sustainable growth by facilitating partnerships, sharing best practices, and highlighting Africa’s readiness for the global market.
“This will be the first-ever WCF Summit held in Africa. It’s a unique opportunity to bring together global leaders to discuss and collaborate on key issues impacting our economies,” said John Denton, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce.
“We are confident that the summit’s discussions and outcomes will pave the way for meaningful progress and lasting impact.”
The summit is expected to generate significant value in areas such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with the potential to attract over Sh1 billion in investment commitments through trade and business partnerships.
Additional impacts are anticipated in the tourism sector, with Kenya showcasing its vibrant tourism and hospitality industries, and in the empowerment of SMEs. The event will provide 500 SMEs with access to global markets, funding, and mentorship to strengthen their roles in value chains.
Other key themes include regional integration, sustainability, youth and gender inclusion, and various forms of collaboration through business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) engagements.
Erick Rutto, President of KNCCI and Chairman of the International Conference of Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Private Sector Forum, emphasized, “This summit is a defining moment for Africa to assert its role as a global trade leader. It will showcase Africa’s readiness to integrate into global value chains and leverage its vast potential.”
“By strengthening collaboration between governments, businesses, and chambers of commerce, we aim to drive innovation, improve trade efficiency, and position Africa as a major player in the global economy.”
