The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has scored another significant victory after its candidate, David Wanyoike Warui, won the Kariobangi North Ward representative race.
IEBC results from the tallying centre show Warui garnered 2,282 votes, ahead of independent candidate Kimanzi John Katua, who came second with 1,956 votes. ODM’s Michael Ouma Majua placed third with 1,351 votes, followed by UDA’s Njoka Julius Maina with 955 votes, while Kanu’s Peter Kariuki received 220 votes.
This win strengthens DCP’s growing presence in Nairobi, coming shortly after the party’s progress in Kisa East ward in Kwisero constituency, and further positions it as a rising player ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In his victory address, the MCA-elect emphasized unity and invited his competitors to join hands for the ward’s development.
“Politics should not divide us; life must go on. I welcome my rivals so we can work together,” he said moments after being declared the winner.
Warui added that the win marks a pivotal moment for both Kariobangi North and DCP’s national ambitions.
“When Nairobi speaks, the country listens. This victory signals what to expect in 2027. It shows DCP will be a strong force in the next General Election,” he stated.
The seat became vacant following the passing of former MCA Joel Munuve.
