ODM’s Boyd Were Wins Kasipul MP Seat

ODM’s Boyd Were has been declared the new Kasipul MP after securing 16,819 votes, ahead of independent candidate Philip Aroko, who came second with 8,476 votes.

The IEBC confirmed Were as MP-elect, with constituency returning officer Rebeccah Abwaku announcing his win and presenting him with the certificate.

In Siaya, ODM’s Moses Omondi Okoth won the Ugunja parliamentary seat with 9,447 votes.

In Nyamira, PDP candidate Jackson Mogusu narrowly clinched the Nyansiongo Ward seat with 2,759 votes, edging out UPA’s Kevin Maranga, who received 2,687 votes.

In Mandera, UDA’s Ahmed Maalim Hassan emerged victorious in the Banisa MP race with 10,431 votes, defeating UPA’s Nurdin Maalim Mohamed, who managed 1,240 votes.

In Machakos, Wiper candidate Antony Kisoi won the Mumbuni North Ward by-election with 3,849 votes, further strengthening the party’s influence in the county.

In Samburu, UDA’s Isabella Leshimpiro was declared the winner of the Angata Nanyekie Ward seat after obtaining 1,239 votes.

In Narok, DCP’s Douglas Twala Masikonde secured the Narok Town Ward seat with 6,007 votes, defeating UDA candidate Robert Kanyinke Ole Kudate, who got 4,479 votes.

This contest was held following the death of MCA Lukas Kudate in February, a development that made the by-election a major political showdown. UDA had fielded the late MCA’s eldest son, Kanyinke Ole Kudate, in an attempt to retain the seat.
