The Nairobi United are set to host KCB FC in a crucial SportPesa Premier League clash at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Wednesday, kicking off at 3pm.
Both teams are vying to strengthen their positions in a congested mid-table, separated by only a few points.

Nairobi United have been one of the season’s standout surprises. After winning the 2025 FKF Cup to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup, the newly promoted side have adapted well to the top flight. They currently sit 10th with 29 points from 19 games, holding a match in hand over several rivals.
KCB FC occupy ninth place on 32 points from 22 games. The bankers endured a tough February but regained momentum with a key 1–0 win over AFC Leopards on February 26.
The fixture carries extra spice, following Nairobi United’s 2–0 victory over KCB at the Kasarani Annex on January 15 — a memorable result in their first top-flight campaign. Wednesday’s match is a rematch after the reverse fixture, initially scheduled for February 14, was postponed.
Striker Dancun Omala remains confident his side can replicate that success.
“We know KCB are experienced, but we believe in our squad,” Omala said. “We showed in Kasarani that we can beat them. Our focus is on controlling the game, staying solid at the back, and capitalising on our chances. Every match is like a final for us now.”
Omala has been pivotal to United’s attacking threat, with the team relying on fluid movement and quick transitions. Their continental experience has added composure, while playing at home could give them a further edge.
KCB midfielder Boniface Omondi stressed that his team is ready to respond.
“We respect Nairobi United; they have shown great character this season,” Omondi said. “But we are determined to get a positive result at Ulinzi. We aim to control the midfield, dictate the tempo, and stay disciplined. Every point is vital as we push for a higher finish.”
Recent form suggests both sides are closely matched. Nairobi United’s last five games read W-D-L-W-D, while KCB have recorded W-L-W-D-L, reflecting similar inconsistency.
Tactically, United may mirror the strategy that earned them victory in January — compact defense, rapid transitions, and clinical finishing, with Omala leading the attack supported by creative midfielders exploiting space behind KCB’s defense.

KCB are expected to focus on possession and structured build-up, with Omondi orchestrating play from midfield. Patience and discipline will be essential against a side dangerous on counter-attacks.
The league table highlights the importance of the clash. A win for Nairobi United could move them into the top half, especially with their game in hand, while three points for KCB would intensify the mid-table battle and boost their top-eight ambitions.
“The league is competitive, and every match is a challenge,” Omala added. “We’re ready to fight for our points at home and make our fans proud.”
Omondi echoed the sentiment: “Discipline, patience, and execution are key. If we play our game, we believe we can secure the three points.”
