According to a relative, the family began searching for him shortly after he went missing and later discovered his clothes near a well that had an open metal cover.
Concerned residents then pumped out water from the well and, after the levels dropped, they retrieved his body from about 10 metres inside.
Police said the body showed no visible external injuries during initial examination. It was later taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for an autopsy and further investigations.
In a separate incident in Ruiru, Kiambu County, police are probing a suspected murder after a 58-year-old man was found dead inside his house in the Membley area.
A Clean Water truck operator reported that his turnboy went to call the driver from his residence and found him lying unresponsive on the bed.
The turnboy alerted the operator, who later confirmed the man’s death. Police who arrived at the scene noted visible head injuries and blood coming from the mouth, raising suspicion of foul play.
The body was moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home pending an autopsy, with investigations ongoing and no arrests made so far.
Meanwhile, police in Kandara, Murang’a County, are investigating a theft incident after five solar panels were stolen from Gacharage Dispensary.
The theft was reported by two staff members who discovered the panels missing upon arrival at the facility on Tuesday morning.

Investigators established that the panels were unscrewed from the rooftop, with suspicions that the thieves accessed the compound through a disturbed section of the perimeter fence.
Authorities also noted that the facility had no security guard at the time of the incident.
The value of the stolen items has not yet been determined as investigations continue.
