Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has resumed duties at his main office in Kitale following the end of a two-month court-ordered restriction.
The ban stemmed from a court ruling on May 20, when Natembeya was released on a Sh1 million bond or a Sh500,000 cash bail in connection with corruption charges, which he has denied. As part of the bail conditions, he was prohibited from accessing his office for 60 days.

Upon his return, an enthusiastic welcome awaited him from county staff and members of the county executive, who had been working in his absence.
During the ban, Natembeya continued operating from sub-county offices, holding meetings and receiving official delegations.
Throughout the two months, he also conducted an extensive tour of the county, maintaining that he had no reason to avoid his official workplace.
“I’m glad to be back. As always, let’s continue serving the people of Trans Nzoia with commitment,” he told staff upon arrival.
Natembeya expressed renewed energy to fulfill his responsibilities and commended county employees for maintaining service delivery during his absence.
Hundreds of residents gathered to welcome him back. Speaking to the public, the governor reassured them that his administration would remain focused on implementing key development projects.

He also appreciated the dedication of Town Hall staff, noting that services were uninterrupted even while he was away.
“Even though I was working from other offices, the commitment of county workers ensured that residents continued to receive essential services,” Natembeya said.
He concluded by thanking God for protection and reaffirmed his resolve to lead despite the political hurdles he has faced.
“My spirit remains unshaken—nothing will stop our mission to serve,” he said.
