“Leave My Husband Alone!” Kihika Fires Back at Gachagua

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has hit back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of persistently dragging her husband into his political attacks and public remarks.

The governor told Gachagua to stop making personal attacks and instead focus on substantive national issues. In a statement issued on Monday, Kihika dismissed his latest claims as politically driven and rooted in personal vendettas.

She questioned why the former DP appeared fixated on her spouse, suggesting the criticism may be linked to unresolved past business disagreements. Kihika accused Gachagua of attempting to intimidate her family through continuous public attacks, saying such tactics would not succeed.

Kihika also took issue with Gachagua’s recent rally in Kinamba, Naivasha, alleging that the bulk of his speech was spent attacking her and her husband rather than outlining any agenda for the country.

While maintaining that Gachagua is free to visit Nakuru County, the governor warned against inflammatory and divisive rhetoric, stressing that the county is cosmopolitan and does not tolerate incitement or disrespectful conduct.

Her remarks came in response to Gachagua’s allegations that the National Police Service had failed to remain neutral and that policing in Nakuru County was being influenced by the governor’s husband.

Gachagua claimed that earlier assurances given by police leadership on non-interference with political meetings had been violated, citing an alleged roadblock at Karati River during his visit to Kinamba that he said delayed his entourage and members of the public.

He further pointed to earlier incidents in Mai Mahiu and Naivasha where he alleged police had disrupted his meetings, accusing authorities of using law enforcement for political purposes.

Kihika, however, rejected the accusations, terming them baseless and politically motivated, and reiterated that Nakuru County values unity and rejects divisive politics.
