Lawyer Nelson Havi Quits UDA Party

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has officially resigned from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the party led by President William Ruto.

In a resignation letter dated November 7, 2025, and addressed to the party’s Secretary General with a copy sent to the Registrar of Political Parties, Havi announced his departure but did not disclose the reasons behind his decision.

“I hereby give notice of resignation as a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) effective today, in accordance with Section 14 of the Political Parties Act,” his letter read in part. “Kindly notify the Registrar of Political Parties to facilitate the removal of my name from the party’s membership list.”

Havi joined UDA in 2021, expressing interest in contesting the Westlands parliamentary seat in the 2022 General Election. He was received into the party by then Deputy President William Ruto, alongside other leaders.
