Jimi Wanjigi, a businessman, has accused the government of plotting to eliminate him, following a recent raid on his Muthaiga residence by heavily armed police officers.
In a Tuesday interview on Citizen TV’s The Explainer Show, Wanjigi suggested that the raid, which involved allegations of him possessing assault weapons, grenades, and teargas canisters, was an attempt by the current administration led by President William Ruto to kill him.
Wanjigi, who leads the Safina Party, linked the incident to a previous raid under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, claiming that both Ruto and Kenyatta harbor animosity toward him.
He asserted, “It’s not just about the police; it’s about both presidents. What happened was criminal; they used the police for illegal actions against me.”
He expressed his belief that the recent raid was less about discovering weapons and more about apprehending him. Wanjigi criticized the government for not using formal arrest procedures and instead terrorizing his family.
“I don’t think it’s about my home, it’s about me. If they were concerned with the law, they could have issued an arrest warrant or used proper legal channels,” he stated.
Wanjigi also recounted past incidents where he alleged that explosives and guns were planted in his motorcade, suggesting that both Uhuru and Ruto might be afraid of him.
He pointed out that such actions were unprecedented in Kenya, even during the Moi era, and questioned why the current administration fears him so much.
