Kenya Power has announced a scheduled electricity interruption set to affect parts of five counties on Monday, August 24, 2026.
In a public notice issued Sunday, the utility company said the planned outages are necessary to allow for routine maintenance work.

In Uasin Gishu County, residents and businesses around Kipkeino School will experience an interruption from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected areas include Kipkeino School, St. Jacobs School, Kaptich, and neighbouring customers.
In Kisumu County, the outage will affect the Gatundu area for a shorter window, running from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. Kenya Power said affected locations include Gatundu Primary, Kencel Tower, Gatundu Market, and Gatundu Village Market, along with surrounding customers.
In Migori County, the interruption will hit Ntimaru from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, affecting areas including Ntimaru Town, Wangirabose, Teragai, Bongibo, Kwiho, Angatta, Mangoke, Nyaroa, and Nyamutiro.
Several areas in Meru County will also experience an outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Mikumbune Market, Macikine Girls Secondary School, Rugejo Coffee Factory, Gaatia Market, Nyanya Market, Covenant Hospital, Ntemwene Market, Kathera Boys Secondary School, Kandigi Coffee Factory, and surrounding customers.

The most extensive interruption will affect parts of Laikipia County, running from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The outage will cover the entirety of Nanyuki and Mukima, along with numerous residential, commercial, institutional, and agricultural areas in the surrounding region.

Affected locations in Nanyuki include Nanyuki Town, Thingithu Estate, Teachers Estate, Cidar Mall, Nanyuki High School, Laikipia Air Base, British Army Training Unit Kenya, Muthaiga Estate, Kanyoni Estate, Sitara Millers, and Nanyuki General Hospital.
Additional affected areas in Laikipia County include Fair Mount Safari Club, 1KR, Baraka Estate, Sweet Waters, Mirera, Marura, Njoguini, Rwai Estate, Kirimo, Ichuga, Makutano Estate, Kangaita, Mathagiro, Ntrukuma, Nkando, Likii Estate, Likii Farm, Milimani, Katheri, Ontulili, Mwireri, Naibor, Jua Kali, Kimuri, Edana, Segera Mission, Ngarengiro, Olpajeta, Mayan Hotel, KHE Farm, and Muramati.
The outage will further extend to Mukima, Airstrip, Bantu Lodge, Ngarariga, Kamangura, Ragati, Kwa Mwea, Toll, Gathiuru, Gakawa, Mureru, Giachuma, Gatuanyaga, Kadara, Thome, Matanya, Weruini, Lamuria, Muthangira, Oltaveta, Ngobit, Withare, Kahuruko, Kona Mbaya, Sirma, Solio Villages, Sangare, and SDA Kwahuku, along with surrounding customers.
