On Friday, the body of an unidentified man was discovered in Rwamuthambi River, located in Getuya village, Ndia constituency, Kirinyaga County.
Local residents found the body while collecting water from the river and immediately alerted the authorities, who responded and processed the scene.
“I was walking by when a neighbor told me about a body in the river. When I arrived, we confirmed it was a man’s body, and we quickly informed the authorities,” said Peter Warui, a local resident.
The community suspects that the man was murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in the river.
“We believe the man may have been killed somewhere else and left here. The area is overgrown, and we hope the detectives will uncover more through their investigation. We don’t understand why anyone would do this,” another resident commented.
The police have taken the body to Kerugoya Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem and further identification.
