Dr. Makali Mulu, the Kitui Central MP on Friday inaugurated a four-room building for Kitui Prison officers, signaling a commitment to improving working conditions and fostering a secure and rehabilitative environment within correctional facilities.

“The relentless efforts of our prison officers significantly contribute to upholding law and order and facilitating the rehabilitation of individuals under their care. This new facility symbolizes our appreciation of their hard work and is expected to enhance their effectiveness and well-being,” Makali said.

“As we inaugurate this building, let it serve as a reminder of our duty to cultivate an environment that promotes professionalism, respect, and empathy within our correctional system. Our aim is not merely confinement but rehabilitation, guiding those in our custody towards positive transformation and eventual reintegration into society,” Dr. Makali added.
Dr. Makali also urged prison officers to continue collaborating to tackle prison challenges, providing them with necessary resources, training, and support.
“Together, we can ensure that our correctional facilities serve as agents of justice, rehabilitation, and hope for a brighter future. Let us strive for a fairer and more humane criminal justice system,” he concluded.

Among the dignitaries present were Kitui Prison’s commander Ibrahim Hassan and Dorcus Rono, the Kitui Central DCC.
