President William Ruto has pledged to ensure justice is served for the slain Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani, known as Sniper.
Speaking in Meru on Friday, Ruto asserted that the government is actively pursuing the case until those responsible for Muthiani’s death are apprehended and face legal consequences. He emphasized that such loss of life cannot be tolerated in Kenya.
Senate Deputy Speaker Kathuri Murungi implored Ruto to expedite the investigation into Muthiani’s murder, highlighting the community’s desire for justice. Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s brother, Murangiri Kenneth Guantai, and Vincent Mureithi Kirimi, also known as Supuu, are among those implicated in the killing.
Mwangaza raised concerns about the investigation’s fairness, pointing out discrepancies and alleging political interference. She stressed the need for justice for Muthiani, who disappeared on December 2 and was later found dead on December 16, 2023.
An autopsy revealed that Muthiani died of strangulation, with additional injuries indicating foul play.
