Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has been acquitted in the criminal case related to the controversial Sh1.1 billion Finland and Canada education programme.
The decision was delivered by Nakuru Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ndege, who cleared Mandago and two former Uasin Gishu County officials of all charges connected to the overseas scholarship initiative.

Also acquitted were former Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Education Dr. Victorine Kapkiai and former Chief Officer for Education Samuel Kurgat.
The three had been charged over the county government’s education programme, through which hundreds of students and parents paid for university placements in Finland and Canada that were later disrupted, prompting investigations and legal action.
The case drew widespread public attention after affected parents raised concerns over financial losses and the uncertainty surrounding the students’ education.
The acquittal concludes the criminal proceedings against the three, although the Finland and Canada education programme continues to spark debate over accountability and compensation for families affected by the failed initiative.
