Kenya finished second globally and emerged top in Africa, cementing its status as a global athletics powerhouse. The team secured 11 medals—seven gold, two silver, and two bronze.

The Speaker highlighted record-breaking performances by Lilian Odira and Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who both won gold in the 800m races. Odira clocked a championship record of 1:54.62 in the women’s event, while Wanyonyi triumphed in the men’s race with a record 1:41.86.

Wetang’ula further extended appreciation to all Kenyan sportsmen and women competing internationally, noting their role in fostering unity and patriotism.

“On behalf of the House and the entire nation, I congratulate Team Kenya for their historic achievement in Tokyo. Their excellence, resilience, and dedication have not only earned glory but also reinforced Kenya’s pride as an athletics giant,” he said.
