Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is scheduled to leave for Rabat, Morocco on Sunday for a three-day official visit.

The trip follows an earlier postponed invitation from Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and is aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic ties between Kenya and Morocco.
A statement from Mudavadi’s office notes that he will engage in high-level meetings to advance bilateral cooperation and address the current trade imbalance, which heavily favors Morocco.
Kenya’s exports to Morocco—mainly tea, coffee, textiles, fruits, and vegetables—are valued at about Sh480 million, while imports such as fertilisers, oils, and aircraft parts amount to roughly Sh12.1 billion.
During his stay, Mudavadi will meet with Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch to explore strategic areas of collaboration, according to Director of Press Service Jacob Ng’etich.
One of the key events during the visit will be the formal opening of the Kenya Embassy in Rabat, a milestone that highlights the strong diplomatic relationship established between the two countries in 1965.
Although the embassy began operations in December 2023, it follows high-level engagements between President William Ruto and Prime Minister Akhannouch during the Dakar II Feed Africa Summit in Senegal in January of the same year.
The embassy in Rabat marks Kenya’s expanded diplomatic footprint in North Africa, joining existing missions in Egypt and Algeria.
Mudavadi will also engage in bilateral talks with Moroccan ministers responsible for agriculture and trade.
The visit is expected to yield the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding, including agreements on housing and institutional collaboration between Kenya’s Foreign Service Academy and Morocco’s Diplomatic Academy.
