Governor Simon Kachapin, speaking during the official launch in Kapenguria, announced that the county has begun distributing emergency food and educational supplies to affected communities.
As part of the initiative, 10 tonnes of fortified porridge flour will be provided to 7,400 learners enrolled in 1,194 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres across the county. Additionally, 2,350 chairs and 30 tables will be distributed to boost learning environments.
Vulnerable wards, including Suam, Lower Riwo, Tapach, and Chepareria, will receive targeted food aid to help struggling families.
Governor Kachapin reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the relief distribution process. He also pledged continued support for early learners, displaced families, police reservists, and other vulnerable groups.
The governor further outlined plans to implement irrigation projects to enhance food security and promised more relief interventions, including bursary funds and construction materials, to aid residents affected by recent disasters.
