Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared that the National Police Service (NPS) will not tolerate goons or political violence as the country gears up for the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at a half marathon in Kericho hosted by Belgut MP Nelson Koech, the Interior CS said security agencies would remain on high alert to prevent any planned violence before it occurs, adding that police are set to roll out a new strategy targeting goons directly.

Murkomen commended the Inspector General of Police for developing a new approach aimed at arresting and detaining goons before they even reach political gatherings where violence could break out.
The CS further called on Kenyans to hold accountable any politicians found sponsoring or facilitating goonism, urging the public to avoid attending rallies organized by such leaders. He also called on political figures to cooperate closely with security agencies and comply with government security advisories and protocols, cautioning citizens against attending meetings led by leaders known to fund or associate with goons.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo echoed similar sentiments, urging young people to resist being used by political leaders as instruments of violence.

The Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Churches of Kenya expressed similar concerns, reinforcing the call for restraint and accountability ahead of the 2027 polls.
