Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi clarified why Crazy Nairobian is currently detained.
He stated that Billy, known as Crazy Nairobian, allegedly sent threatening messages which led to his arrest.
“I’ve consulted with the police regarding the arrest of Crazy Nairobian, Billy. Apparently, he sent threatening messages,” Itumbi asserted in a social media post.
Itumbi mentioned that he regularly receives numerous threatening messages that he chooses to ignore.
Despite disagreeing strongly, Itumbi expressed his inability to intervene in this particular case.
“I will try to contact the complainant to explore the possibility of withdrawal,” he added.
Reflecting on his past experiences with arrests, Itumbi indicated he used legal avenues to his advantage.
According to Itumbi, criticism and insults directed at public officials should be considered free speech and not necessarily criminal acts.
“I believe it’s up to the courts to decide whether sending threatening messages constitutes a crime. Personally, I wouldn’t report such incidents to the police,” he stated.
He also emphasized that public officials should develop resilience to criticism, suggesting that some arrests stemming from complaints are unnecessary and misguided.
Crazy Nairobian was reportedly arrested on Friday, and his current location is unknown.
