At least five people have died following a road accident involving a matatu and trucks at Kikopey along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway.
Police said the Bungoma-bound matatu was hit from behind by a truck that is believed to have lost control.
Another truck was reportedly in front of the matatu, trapping the public service vehicle between the two heavy trucks.

Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Winsone Mwakio confirmed the crash, saying five passengers lost their lives while six others sustained injuries.

Those injured were rushed to hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to a mortuary.

Authorities indicated that brake failure on the truck is suspected to have caused the accident, adding that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
