Despite achieving an impressive score of 399 marks in his KCPE, David Odhiambo Muga faced the risk of missing out on attending Maseno School due to financial constraints. His parents, unable to afford the fees, prompted Muga to make an online appeal. The Foundation took notice of his case and was determined to assist Muga in realizing his dream of attending Maseno School and pursuing a career as a neurosurgeon.
“On behalf of the Eliud Owalo Foundation, I had the honor this morning to present a banker’s cheque of Ksh 98,654 to Maseno School Principal, Peter Owino, as a complete settlement for Muga’s Form 1 fees,” mentioned Owalo. The amount covers various expenses such as school fees, development fees, parental support, uniform, games kits, mattress, and more.
In a gesture of further support, the Foundation contributed Ksh. 50,000 as seed capital to enable Muga’s mother to start a business, aiming to secure the family’s financial stability.
The event was attended by Maseno School Old Boys Emmanuel Ombaka, Dennis Osano Kute, and Barack Kamire, along with Muga’s parents, Ruth Addah Agola and Joseph Muga Owera. Chief Fred Omino, Assistant Chief Agnes Otieno, Regional Director of Education Mr. Nelson Sifuna, County Director of Education Ms. Rosemary Birenge, Chairman of the School’s Board Dr. Olango Onudi, and DCC Kisumu West Mr. Wanyonyi were also present.
“Muga, an aspiring neurosurgeon, now has a chance at a brighter future,” affirmed Owalo.
