In a decisive ruling, the court has determined that Jowie Irungu is responsible for the murder of Monica Kimani.
Justice Grace Nzioka outlined the sequence of events, stating that two days prior to the incident, Jowie acquired an identity card, armed himself with a firearm, donned traditional attire over his clothes, gained entry to Monica’s apartment, and perpetrated the heinous act. Subsequently, he changed attire and disposed of the incriminating clothing.
The evidence presented, Justice Nzioka emphasized, unequivocally points to Jowie as Monica’s killer. The prosecution successfully demonstrated his culpability beyond any reasonable doubt.
“The death, its cause, and the perpetrator’s identity have been unequivocally established. Jowie Irungu is found guilty of the murder charge,” Justice Nzioka declared.
In delivering the verdict, Justice Nzioka remarked on the calculated nature of the crime, suggesting a deliberate intent to ensure Monica’s immediate demise. She also noted Jowie’s familiarity with methods of murder.
Furthermore, Justice Nzioka dismissed Jowie’s claim of unfamiliarity with Monica prior to her death, revealing evidence of their acquaintance from their time together at Kenya Polytechnic.
Monica Kimani’s lifeless body was discovered in her Lamuria Gardens Apartment, bearing signs of a brutal murder that likely required multiple perpetrators.
Jowie and Jacque Maribe have been under trial since 2018, during which the prosecution presented 35 witnesses. The defense opted not to call any witnesses.
Additionally, corroborative evidence regarding Jowie’s attire on the day of the crime was highlighted in the ruling, further solidifying the case against him.
The court’s decision reaffirms that justice will be served for Monica Kimani, a promising individual with a bright future cut tragically short.
