Justice Grace Nzioka has confirmed that Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu was indeed inside Monica Kimani’s residence, according to the latest court findings.
The judge stated that compelling evidence indicated Jowie as the last individual seen with Monica at her Lamuria Gardens residence. This conclusion was supported by a confidential witness who also positively identified Jowie during an identification parade.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Jowie gained entry to Monica’s estate using another person’s identity card.
“It is established by this court that the primary defendant was present at the deceased’s residence on the relevant date and was the last person known to have been with her. According to the protected witness, Harun, identified during the parade as the first defendant, left the premises at 23:00, and no other individual visited thereafter,” Justice Nzioka asserted.
“The witness also confirmed that the deceased’s Sudanese boyfriend was not in Kenya. Additionally, evidence suggests that the deceased was scheduled to depart the following day for Dubai to meet her Sudanese boyfriend for both business and leisure purposes.”
Justice Nzioka, presiding over the Milimani Law Courts, delivered this pivotal ruling in a case spanning over five years.
The judgment faced two postponements, with the latest due to the indisposition of Maribe’s attorney, Katwa Kigen.
Jowie stands as the primary defendant in the Monica Kimani murder trial, charged alongside Jacque Maribe in 2018.
Monica’s lifeless body was discovered at her Lamuria Gardens Apartment on Kitale Lane, Denis Pritt Road, Kilimani.
Since 2018, the prosecution has presented testimony from 35 witnesses in this protracted legal battle.
