Continued Russian Attacks On Ukraine Result In Four Fatalities And 92 Injuries

On Tuesday, Russia persisted in its assaults on Ukraine, leading to the tragic loss of four lives and leaving a minimum of 92 individuals wounded. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indicated that these casualty figures may escalate as ongoing search and rescue operations progress.

The targeted areas encompassed Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Kropyvnytskyi, and other settlements, where Russia deployed numerous attack drones, cruise missiles, and aerial ballistic missiles. This onslaught resulted in casualties and substantial damage to various properties, including residential and commercial structures.

Reports from Kyiv outlined destruction in residential buildings, a warehouse, a supermarket, and gas infrastructure. Some parts of the capital are grappling with disruptions in electricity and water supply. Additionally, Kharkiv witnessed attacks on residential zones.

Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the deliberate targeting of civilian structures indicates Russia’s intent to harm Ukrainian women, children, and the elderly. Kuleba urged nations supporting Ukraine to expedite the provision of additional air defense systems, combat drones, and long-range missiles. He also called on the international community to swiftly decide on transferring frozen Russian assets to address Ukraine’s urgent needs.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, Kuleba stressed that the global community must demonstrate that it will not overlook the killing of Ukrainian civilians and the destruction of critical infrastructure by the Moscow regime.

This marks the second wave of large-scale attacks on Ukraine since December, with President Vladimir Putin vowing to escalate the assault. Putin, during a visit to a military hospital in Moscow, announced an intensified focus on targeting Ukrainian military installations. He criticized Ukraine for what he deemed a “deliberate strike against civilians” in the Russian city of Belgorod.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his New Year address, pledged a substantial increase in the country’s weapon production in 2024, committing to the construction of at least a million drones. The recent days have witnessed a deadly exchange of attacks between Russia and Ukraine, heightening tensions in the ongoing conflict.
