The arrest was part of an ongoing multi-agency operation targeting drug trafficking routes linking Kenya’s Northern Frontier to Nairobi.
Authorities estimate the seized narcotics to be worth approximately Sh1 million.
The woman was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search at a roadblock on the Moyale-Nairobi highway. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), her suspicious behavior prompted female officers to carry out an intensive body search, which led to the discovery of the hidden drugs.
She is currently being held at Moyale Police Station as anti-narcotics officers prepare to press charges.
The DCI has reaffirmed its resolve to dismantle drug smuggling networks, especially those exploiting the Northern Frontier corridor.
Meanwhile, in separate operations in Nairobi, five suspected drug traffickers were arrested in Huruma, Karen, and along Kirinyaga Road. Police recovered over 160 kilograms of bhang, 2,353 rolls of cannabis, rolling papers, filter tips, weighing scales, and two motorcycles believed to be used for distribution.
Nairobi Police Commander George Sedah said the crackdown is part of efforts to combat the growing drug trade. He noted that most of the bhang originates from western Kenya and through the Moyale route, driven by rising demand.
“We are committed to ending this menace,” Sedah stated, adding that the suspects will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 22.
