Ukambani-Born Banker Found Dead in her London Apartment

UK authorities are investigating the death of a Kenyan woman whose body was discovered in her London flat on Friday afternoon, showing signs of a fatal head injury.

The Metropolitan Police have not yet made any arrests but suspect that the person responsible for Marianne Kilonzi’s death was someone she knew, according to the Daily Mail.

Her body was found at 5:25 p.m. after concerned individuals contacted the police about her welfare.

Detective Suzanne Soren, speaking to the Daily Mail, described the crime as tragic and extended her condolences to Marianne’s family and colleagues. She also mentioned that the investigation into the suspected killer was progressing quickly.

Forensic investigators searched her home and nearby bins for clues to aid in the inquiry.

Marianne, 43, had been with Citibank for over 18 years and served as Vice President of Trade and Working Capital Sales, Treasury, and Trade Solutions. Her LinkedIn profile indicated she earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Kenyatta University between 2001 and 2004.

“We are in contact with her family and are providing them with the necessary support,” Detective Soren said.

A postmortem performed on Saturday revealed that blunt force trauma and a head injury were the causes of her death.

“This is a concerning time for the community, and I want to reassure the public that although we are still in the early stages of this investigation, we believe the suspect was known to Marianne,” said the detective.

Neighbors in Marianne’s building on Argyll Road in Woolwich, located near the River Thames in southeast London, reported hearing a loud disturbance from her apartment early on Monday morning.

The Daily Mail noted that residents of the Royal Arsenal Riverside development, where she lived, were questioned about the noise, which was heard between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.

A spokesperson for Citi expressed their sadness over Marianne’s death, offering condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time.
