In a notice released on Tuesday, the UDA National Elections Board (NEB) said the decision was reached after consultations and appeals from members in affected counties who requested extra time to complete registration and verification.
The rescheduling affects 22 counties, including Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Turkana, Kajiado, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira.
UDA also extended the registration deadline to Friday, April 10 at 5.00 pm, with member verification set for April 11 and 12. The party urged eligible members to meet the timelines to ensure they can participate in the elections.
The announcement comes shortly after Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who also serves as UDA’s deputy party leader, had indicated that county-level elections would be completed by April 9.
At the time, elections were ongoing in 18 counties, including Trans-Nzoia, Samburu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Vihiga, Kericho, Bomet, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Murang’a, and Kiambu, while five counties had already concluded the process up to the county level.
Kindiki described the exercise as critical in strengthening internal democracy and ensuring fair representation at the grassroots level.

In its statement, UDA reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent and orderly process, noting that the grassroots elections are aimed at building leadership structures from the polling station level up to the national level.
The party maintains that the exercise is key to empowering members and ensuring leaders remain accountable, as it prepares for the 2027 General Election.
