Traffic Disruption: Thika Road Closed Between Kahawa Barracks and Kenyatta University

The Kenya National Highways Authority has declared the closure of a segment of Thika Road at Kahawa Sukari Drift, extending from Kahawa Barracks to Kenyatta University, due to heavy rainfall in the city.

Motorists traveling to Thika are advised to utilize Kiambu Road, then divert onto Northern Bypass towards Ruiru and vice versa.

KeNHA warns against attempting to use this section of the road for safety reasons.

They pledge to monitor water levels and provide updates when the situation improves. Consequently, commuters faced disruptions on Wednesday morning due to flooding, particularly at Kenyatta University and Juja, affecting traffic flow along the Thika Superhighway.

Police redirected traffic away from submerged areas, including the underpass of the Juja Flyover and the Traffic Police Offices within Juja Police Station, urging caution on the Juja Superhighway.

Vehicles heading from Nairobi to Thika made u-turns at Githurai roundabout, with no traffic headed towards Nairobi from Thika.
