Ruto has directed for a minimum wage increase of at least 6%, emphasizing the importance of supporting workers to lead decent lives.
He conveyed this during the Labour Day event at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, assigning Labour CS Florence Bore to collaborate with the relevant committee to ensure the implementation of this increase.

The minimum wage, which is the lowest remuneration an employer must pay employees, saw its last adjustment in 2022 under former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Ruto highlighted the need to activate various wage councils outlined in the 2007 Labour Relations Act to handle labor disputes effectively, mentioning sectors like seafarers, protective, general, and agricultural workers.

While acknowledging the constitutional right to industrial action, Ruto stressed the importance of respecting court orders and adhering to legal processes to resolve disputes.
He called for dialogue to address labor challenges across different sectors of the economy.
