The Holy See press office shared that the Pope had a restful night and is still recovering, with his condition slightly improving over the past couple of days.

“He slept well overnight and continues to rest on Thursday morning, with his condition showing modest improvement,” the statement noted.

The Pope remains on high-flow oxygen therapy, but no asthma-like respiratory crises have occurred since Wednesday evening. The mild kidney insufficiency he had been experiencing in recent days has now subsided.

A chest CT scan conducted Tuesday night revealed normal progression of his lung inflammation, and blood tests taken Wednesday confirmed the improvement observed since Tuesday.

The Holy See Press Office added that his prognosis remains “guarded.”

Pope Francis has been in Gemelli Hospital in Rome for nearly two weeks after being diagnosed with bronchitis and later found to have bilateral pneumonia.

Although his condition is still considered “critical but stable,” there have been no further acute respiratory crises, as of Tuesday evening.

Over the weekend, the Vatican reported that Pope Francis experienced a respiratory crisis and required a blood transfusion, and on Sunday evening, they described his condition as “critical.”

Catholics gathered outside Gemelli Hospital on Saturday to pray the rosary for the Pope’s health. Pilgrims from France, Poland, and other parts of the world also prayed for his recovery while visiting Rome.
