Millicent Omanga has publicly distanced herself from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and declared support for the rapidly growing Linda Mwananchi movement.
In a social media post promoting the movement’s upcoming rally in Kakamega, the former nominated senator signaled a major political shift, stating, “It’s about the people.”

Her remarks point to an increasingly open break from President William Ruto’s party and align her with the Linda Mwananchi tours led by Edwin Sifuna, Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
What started as town hall-style meetings has since grown into a broader grassroots mobilisation campaign, drawing large crowds across several counties. The forums focus on issues such as governance, the high cost of living and accountability, and are increasingly being viewed as a political movement.
Omanga, who narrowly lost the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the last general election, is widely expected to vie again for the position.
Her latest political alignment is likely to influence her strategy in the capital. Although she has not formally announced her exit from UDA, her endorsement of Linda Mwananchi marks one of her most definitive breaks yet from the ruling party.

Meanwhile, Sifuna confirmed that he has formally notified Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen about the Linda Mwananchi rally scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega.

Speaking in the Senate on February 19, Sifuna said he had already submitted a notification to the Kakamega OCPD and would also share the same communication on the Senate WhatsApp group. He noted that Murkomen, a former senator, remains in the group and reads the messages.
Sifuna explained that he was taking the extra step to ensure the CS could not later claim he was unaware of the planned Kakamega meeting.
