Ida Odinga, wife of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has appeared before a parliamentary committee for vetting after being nominated as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

She appeared before the Departmental Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations.
The vetting is a key stage in the parliamentary approval process for her ambassadorial appointment, during which she is expected to present her vision for representing Kenya at UNEP and highlight her experience in national and international environmental policy and advocacy.
