Murang’a Seal Sets Sights on Premier League Top 10 Finish in Debut Season

Following a disappointing three-game winless streak in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) prior to the international break, Murang’a Seal’s coach, Juma Abdallah, is now aiming for a top ten finish by winning two of the remaining three matches once the league recommences.

Abdallah welcomed the break as a much-needed opportunity for his team to regroup after playing three intense matches without securing a victory, emphasizing the necessity to reassess their strategies.

Before the hiatus, Murang’a Seal suffered consecutive defeats against champions Gor Mahia (3-1) and Tusker FC (2-1) before salvaging a point away to Ulinzi Stars at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi.

Speaking to the press, Abdallah stated that his team is back in training after a two-week rest and is addressing the issues that led to their previous setbacks, with a friendly match planned to fine-tune their skills.

“I noticed my players losing focus, particularly in the final 20 minutes of the last three fixtures, squandering leads. The break has provided us with an opportunity to rectify this, and we’ll have a friendly before the league resumes in 10 days,” he explained.

Following the break, Seal will confront Kenya Police FC at home on June 16, 2024, followed by an away fixture against Kakamega Homeboyz three days later, concluding the season at home against Shabana FC on June 23, 2024. Abdallah aims for a top ten finish, requiring six points from the remaining nine available.

“This being our debut in the top-tier league, I am proud of how my players have performed. Our goal is to finish in the top 10, which I believe is attainable if we remain unbeaten in the remaining fixtures,” emphasized the coach.

Abdallah anticipates the match against Shabana FC to be crucial, reviving the rivalry from last season’s National Super League (NSL). Despite the challenge, he is confident in his team’s ability to secure victory, especially with home advantage.

Reflecting on the recent tough fixtures, Abdallah acknowledges that the FIFA international break has provided his players with a brief respite to recharge.

Under Abdallah’s guidance since January, Seal has won three matches, drawn three, and lost twice, a marked improvement from the 11 winless matches before his arrival.

Currently, Murang’a Seal occupies 12th place on the table with 37 points from 31 matches, maintaining a six-point buffer above the relegation zone.
