With the 2027 General Elections still three years away, political maneuvering and early campaign discussions have already begun.
Yatta MP Robert Basil voiced his support on Monday for a presidential ticket comprising Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, considering it as the optimal choice for Kenya.
Expressing his views on K24, Basil remarked, “Ndindi Nyoro is a person I would welcome to our side to collaborate with Kalonzo. If we pair him with Kalonzo as the running mate, it would lead to an easy victory.”
Basil asserted that there is internal discord among Mt Kenya leaders regarding the 2027 succession, and he is encouraging Nyoro to align with the opposition. “We invite Nyoro to join forces with Kalonzo. That’s the presidential team Kenyans should have in 2027,” he asserted.
The Yatta legislator emphasized the need for leaders capable of elevating the country. “It is time for Kenyans to choose prudent leaders who can serve the country, and for that, we recommend the combination of Kalonzo and Nyoro to lead the nation,” Basil stated.
Over the weekend, Ukambani leaders urged Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to conduct a nationwide campaign for the presidency, asserting that 2027 is the opportune time for him.
Meanwhile, a group of Murang’a leaders last week endorsed Kiharu MP Nyoro as the deputy to President William Ruto in the 2027 general election. Led by Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, the leaders argued that maintaining Rigathi Gachagua as Ruto’s deputy could pose challenges to his re-election prospects.
Senator Nyutu emphasized Murang’a’s significance in national politics, advocating for Nyoro as a preferable choice. He added, “We will request Ruto to choose a young person from Murang’a, who is Ndindi Nyoro; Gachagua has lost his ground, treating people disrespectfully, including elected leaders.”
Muriu stressed the importance of recognizing Murang’a’s contributions, especially from its mothers, and called for respect and acknowledgment for the region’s sons and daughters. “The women of Murang’a also give birth to leaders, and Ndindi Nyoro is qualified enough to deputize Ruto and become a leader,” Muriu affirmed.
