The Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, has advised primary school administrators to permit parents to gradually purchase the new Junior Secondary School (JSS) uniform.
He emphasized the importance of allowing students to continue using their Grade 6 uniform if they face financial constraints. Machogu recognized that the rising cost of living should not hinder access to education for certain parents.
Additionally, he cautioned school officials against soliciting funds for the construction of JSS classrooms, citing the government’s allocation of over Sh630 billion to education in the last budget.
Furthermore, Machogu encouraged parents to consider enrolling students who did not meet university entry requirements in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and polytechnics to acquire valuable professional skills.
