Tragedy struck on Sunday night in Pap Ka’Mboha village, Alego/Usonga sub-county, Siaya County, where a 22-year-old gold miner, identified as Vincent Odhiambo, lost his life due to electrocution.
The incident occurred at a gold mining site, where Odhiambo worked as a machine operator.
Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo, confirming the unfortunate event, reported that Bar-Ding sub-location Assistant Chief Musa Okello informed authorities that the young miner was electrocuted on the mining site.
Following the incident, members of the public recovered Odhiambo’s body, and the police subsequently transported it to Siaya County referral hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
