The Minority side, led by Kinanie/Mathatani Ward MCA Francis Kavyu, accused the Majority of shielding questionable hiring practices, saying the process lacked transparency and fairness.
“This county government must be accountable. People deserve to know how jobs are being given out,” Kavyu charged as debate intensified in the chambers.
In response, Speaker Ann Kiusya directed the Assembly’s Public Service Committee to probe the claims and file a detailed report within 21 days.
“The statement sought by Hon. Ngunga is hereby referred to the Labour and ICT Committee, to report back within 21 days,” ruled Kiusya.
The development now sets the stage for a fresh showdown between the Assembly and county executive over employment practices in Machakos.
