In a recent development, the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) executed the relocation of 74 impalas from the Olmogi farm of Kenya Unit in Naivasha to Tundra Conservancy in Laikipia.
This decision was announced on Wednesday as part of KWS’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the dairy farming industry.
In a statement issued by KWS, it was highlighted that the impalas were transferred with utmost care to ensure their safety and well-being. The entire process was meticulously carried out under the supervision of seasoned wildlife specialists and veterinarians, ensuring that no harm came to any of the animals involved.
The primary objective behind the translocation was to ensure the welfare of the impalas. Tundra Conservancy was identified as an ideal sanctuary due to its expansive space, abundant vegetation, and protected environment, providing sustainable conditions for the conservation and welfare of the impalas.
This relocation underscores KWS’s commitment to the conservation of wildlife while also accommodating the needs of other sectors such as agriculture and dairy farming.
It serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at striking a balance between wildlife preservation and economic development.
