Governor Simba Arati of Kisii on Wednesday launched 2,841 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to enhance local health services.
During the event at Gusii Stadium in Kisii town, the Governor distributed kits, including mobile phones, to the CHPs, aiming to improve the range and quality of their services. Arati highlighted that investing in community health brings substantial economic and societal benefits, emphasizing the role of CHPs as the primary frontline in healthcare.
The Governor commended the National Government for procuring kits and mobile phones, enhancing the digital community health information system and empowering CHPs to collect and report real-time health data effectively. Arati also mentioned the establishment of primary healthcare networks to strengthen community health services.
Last year, President William Ruto emphasized joint support from the National and County governments for Community Health Promoters, recognizing their crucial role in achieving Universal Health Coverage.
The President highlighted the agreement to standardize the remuneration of CHPs, co-sponsored by both levels of government, acknowledging health as a devolved function.
