Museveni, one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders, has been in power since 1986, when he came to office after leading the National Resistance Army (NRA) that took control of the country following a protracted guerrilla war. Over the decades, he has been repeatedly re-elected, extending his rule for nearly four decades.

The inauguration at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds marks another chapter in Uganda’s political continuity under Museveni, who has overseen multiple constitutional and governance changes during his tenure.
