In the men’s competition, Yves Nimubona created history by becoming the first Rwandan man to triumph at the Energy vision Cross Cup Hannut. Initially, a five-man group, consisting of Nimubona, Mebrahtu, Kibet Kandie, Guillaume Grimard, and Rogers Kibet, led the race.
As the race progressed, Nimubona, Mebrahtu, and Kandie broke away to establish a leading trio. Although Kandie lost ground, Nimubona and Mebrahtu maintained their positions at the forefront. When the bell signaled the final lap, Nimubona surged ahead, ultimately securing victory with a time of 28:29.
Mebrahtu closely followed, finishing just one second behind, while Kandie clinched third place in 28:42. Kandie narrowly held off a strong challenge from Santiago Catroffe of Uruguay, who finished just one second behind him.
